StoryDon't Listen Ronaldo

Zinedine Zidane reckons Ronaldo should give a deaf ear towards his critics and just keep playing and performing the way he has been for Real Madrid for a long time.

A large percentage of the Los Blancos fans want to see the departure of the talismanic Portuguese who has surely been one of the best in the club’s history.

And, even of late, he has not been that poor in terms of numbers. If you see the players with most number of goals either in the Spanish Premier Division or the Champions League in the ongoing season, it’s none other than Ronaldo who is leading the chart.

For some reason, the supporters have not been content with him of late and don’t want him to be at Bernabeu anymore. He was even booed along with the rest of the Madrid team yesterday ahead of the game against Celta Vigo. His response to that was absolutely fitting though as he just ripped Celta apart with 4 thunder strikes to help Madrid to a win of 7 goals to 1.

It wouldn’t have softened the fans’ hurt caused by the derby loss the previous week which virtually killed the hopes that Madrid had of the League trophy. Still, that performance was a statement not only from Ronaldo, but, from Madrid as well. It's a bit like coming back with pocket rockets after getting down to your last chip in poker. You could get Real Madrid to win by 4 or more goals at 10/1 if you used a promotion code, which would have been great value.

Zidane wants all his players including Ronaldo to put his mind on the coming European fixture versus Roma and nothing else. Whilst it's rumoured that some of the players have been distracted by the odds on offer in the StanJames daily specials at Cheltenham, Zidane wants them all to be consumate professionals and concentrate on their football.

As far as the booing is concerned, according to Zidane, Ronaldo was not the only one whom the supporters were targeting and it was the whole team whom they booed including the manager too and that too because they hold the team in high regards and want them to achieve what they are capable of.

The Roma return fixture will take place on Tuesday. Madrid are ahead by 2-0 having won the first leg. The winner on aggregate will make it to Round of 8.
