StoryRONALDO EXTENDS GOLDEN BOOT LEAD

Cristiano Ronaldo is on course to win the Golden Boot Award for the first time in the Italian Serie A though he will have to fend off Inter Milan striker RomeluLukaku in the bid to achieve this feat. Cristiano Ronaldo had one more goal than RomeluLukaku before Juventus took on Spezia at home in a matchday 25 clash in the Italian football top flight. The Spezia game gave Cristiano Ronaldo the opportunity to extend his lead over RomeluLukaku in the race to win the Golden Boot Award at the end of the season. It is an award given to the highest goalscorer in the league within a particular season. Spezia gave a good account of themselves at the Juventus Stadium but in the end, Juventus had too much power for them especially when manager Andrea Pirlo introduced the duo of Alvaro Morata and Federico Bernardeschi.

After a goalless situation at the end of the hour mark, Morata and Bernardeschi came on for Gianluca Frabotta and Weston McKennie. Alvaro Morata went on to score almost immediately off the assist from fellow second half substitute Federico Bernardeschi. The impressive Bernardeschi also provided the assist for the second goal scored by Federico Chiesa on 71 minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo added a third goal on the cusp of the full-time interval to take him to 20 goals ahead of RomeluLukaku, who has 18 goals this season.
